We know that Mini has changed plenty since takeover by the Germans, but who’d have thought we’d ever see a two-wheeled Mini? That’s what BMW is unveiling today: the new Mini Scooter E Concept.

As its name suggests, this takes the learnings from the Mini E electric car and applies them to a scooter for use around town.

BMW today unveils the new 2011 6-series – albeit in lightly disguised concept car form. The new BMW Concept 6-series Coupé (2010) will form the centrespiece at the 2010 Paris motor show.

Forget the ‘concept’ tag in the name: this is the real 6-series, near as damn it. It’s a 2+2 coupé, although Munich will launch the 6-series convertible (F12) first in March 2011; the 6-series coupé (F13) based on this two-door arrives in September 2011.

Audi A7 3.0 TDI SE (2010) CAR review

So what exactly is the new Audi A7? It’s Audi’s answer to the Mercedes CLS, a luxury saloon that thinks it’s a coupé. Unlike the CLS, but like the Porsche Panamera, Aston Rapide and BMW 5-series GT, the Audi has an opening hatch instead of a saloon boot. Think A5 Sportback but on a bigger scale.

So it’s a re-imagined Rover SD1/MK3 Granada/Renault 25. But is it based on the A6 or A8?

Neither. Well, neither of the current cars. It’s actually a derivative of the next A6 that arrives in 2011, and uses a stretched version of the lightweight MLB platform already doing service in the A4 and A5 that allows engines to be mounted further back in the chassis than before.

Compared with the current A6, the fastback is 42mm

Infiniti M37S (2010) CAR review

This is the Infiniti M37, and it’s Infiniti’s answer to the BMW 5-series and Mercedes E-class. And after we briefly tested the M35 Hybrid version in Japan, this is our first chance to try the new Infiniti M on UK roads.

So the Infiniti M37 is now here in the UK, but was it by any chance designed primarily for a market other than the European one? Perhaps one with no eyes.

It’s not a thing of beauty, that’s for sure, despite Infiniti’s claims that its styling was inspired by the striking Essence concept car. But Infiniti will shift trillions of these things in the US, and the slightly bland, swoopy lines are likely to go down better there.

I’m guessing it’s got more gadgets than a technology trade fair, right?

Painted matt black, and with ‘dontblogaboutthis’ emblazoned across its flanks, it is of course a tease designed to get forums fanatics and bloggers worked up into a frenzy as everyone tries to guess what it is. BMW M3 Competition Package (2010) CAR review

The BMW M3 GTS might have been stealing all the headlines recently, but there’s another new M3 around too, the Competition Package-equipped Coupe. Introduced as an option as part of a recent mid-life update, it offers a performance-focussed pack for those who want their E92 M3 to feel a bit more CS, CSL and GTS.
