bad credit loans

News homepage

What is it?

A mid-life refresh of Bentley’s hugely successful Continental GT coup. Unsurprisingly, the changes are relatively subtle, with revised front and rear lights, a more chiselled look to its lines and an all-new interior. Technical changes include a more powerful, more economical W12 engine with power increased by 20- to 567bhp. That allows the Continental GT to reach 62mph in 4.6 seconds and onto a 198mph top speed.

Why’s it here?

To introduce a range of changes that will filter down the entire Continental range in time. The new 2011 model will come with a new look, a more efficient W12 engine and improvements like a wider track front and rear to enhance the driving experience. The big news will be the availability of

News: KTM X-Bow R (more extreme version of extreme track day car)

bad credit loans

News homepage

What do you get if you put a tuned Audi S3 engine into a car that weighs less than your Sunday lunch? You get the KTM X-Bow R.

There are no official performance numbers yet, but this X-Bow might win a 50-yard race with an arrow fired from an actual crossbow. It’s got 300bhp, and the engine is placed lower in the chassis to the benefit the centre of gravity and hence of cornering speed.

A number of performance enhancing changes will accompany the engine transplant, though we’re not told what they are yet. We do know, however, that they’ll be available as aftermarket parts for existing X-Bows.

The R will come in two flavours, named Sport and Race, the latter revoking the car’s

iPhone knocked off Cool Brands index by Aston Martin

bad credit loans

“Aston Martin combines three key elements – power, beauty and soul. Its
sleek, polished and sexy cars ensure the brand continues to dominate the
list of the nation’s coolest brands, as judged by experts and consumers
alike.”

In third place was the iPod, followed by Blackberry, another smart phone and
then in fifth place Bang & Olufsen, an upmarket audio-visual
manufacturer.

The brands are chosen by a combination of 2,000 consumers in a survey and by a
panel of 35 designers, style magazine editors and website executives.

Apple’s iPhone has sold more than three million iPhones in Britain since the
first version went on sale in 2007, with even operators such as Tesco Mobile
offering the gadget.

27 September 2010 11:14

Ford president and CEO Alan Mulally today told British business leaders how he saved Ford from the worst recession for a generation. He also outlined how the Ford range will shrink from 97 models sold globally to just 20.

Mulally gave the keynote speech to the Confederation of British Industry in London, where business bigwigs heard how Ford became the only Detroit car maker not to collapse into bankruptcy. The address was titled Ford’s Renaissance.

Just 20 Ford models globally? That’s some cut!

Indeed. It’s all part of the One Ford plan kicked off by Mulally soon after his appointment

News: Citroen C4 Picasso (new model includes e-HDi model – debuts in Paris)

bad credit loans

News homepage

From October 2010 the revised Citroen C4 Picasso range will hit UK showrooms, having been debuted at the Paris Motor Show.

Most intriguing is that the update marks the introduction of Citroen’s e-HDI ‘micro-hybrid’ technology in the UK. It’s really just a posh engine start-stop system linked to a 110bhp HDi diesel engine and a six-speed automatic transmission, but it results in impressive efficiency.

The system uses a reversible alternator that captures brake energy to charge the battery, as well as performing start-stop duties. With it, the C4 Picasso returns 58.9mpg on the combined cycle and the Grand Picasso 57.6mpg. Emissions are 125- and 132g/km respectively.

The facelift is standard issue stuff, including a mild front-end redesign, new rear light clusters and some daytime LEDs

Nissan’s GT-R: she’s a ‘monster’

bad credit loans

It will form part of the 80-minute theatre production featuring the three Top
Gear presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May.

The “monster” street racing sequence is said to combine the action
and emotion of Manga comic culture with the power, noise, colour and
tyre-smoking performance of the GT-R, to deliver one of the show’s
highlights.

“Ever since we drove the new GT-R through the streets of Tokyo on the
television programme, I’ve wanted to incorporate one into a stunt driving
sequence on the Live show, so I’m thrilled to finally have the chance,”
said Top Gear Live’s Executive Producer, Rowland French. “This driving
sequence is going to blow the audience away.”

Away from the Top Gear Live theatre, Nissan

News: Citroen Survolt (takes on Agni Z2 electric superbike in Thruxton)

bad credit loans

News homepage

A very green showdown between an electric supercar and an electric superbike has happened at Thruxton – the first race of its type we believe.

The Citroen Survolt and the Agni Z2 fought it out at the Thruxton race circuit in a test of speed and agility. A big publicity stunt, sure, but it makes compelling viewing as the 300bhp Survolt and the 65bhp Agni battle it out.

Obviously weight plays a part, so despite the massive power advantage of the twin electric motored Survolt, the Agni is quicker to 62mph: 3.5 seconds for the bike, and ‘under five’ for the car. The Survolt hits 162mph, while the 220kg bike tops out at just over 130mph.

The electric competitors were both piloted by women
